This is called outsourcing - it saves the company money of course - only you don't save! It is truly absurd for the tech to want to remotely enter your computer for a problem downloading a product from the system he is using himself. You will find identical "translation" problems if you call Microsoft -or for that matter any major softtware vendor I suppose. ![]() The version number fof Tools and the main program are always the same WS 8.0.2 comes with Tools 8.0.2 - if you download the full version at leastĪs far as tech support. Therfe are no compatible updates to VMware Tools for WS 8.0.2 or any progdram version - unless you follow the incorrect advice to update your Tools when you are running 8.0.1. This would also get around your undersandable discomfort and problems like dthe above when downloading from within the program itself (with understandable firewall problems or security whatever). Try downloading the 8.0.2 program directly from the VMware servers (I don't understand why you have to use "save as" rather a direct download link - but that is the case) On installing or reinstalling do not check the default "yes" when the installer asks if you want VMware to check for updates You won't get potentailly dangerous mesages like the above - let alone allow access to your computer - this applies to whether you want to "help" VMware improve its product as well Check this every now and then by going to the site directly. I also can't download latest vmware tools as well as it results in same timeouts but did install older vmware tools within guest CentOS 6.2 64bit machines without problems
